Our client is a leader in renewable energy. Ithas a track record in environmental markets and is in the process of establishing a dedicated Global Carbon team. Sourcing activities will be further enhanced with a focus on CDM and JI (upstream), expanding its structuring and trading business with respect to all regulated carbon commodities and streamlining its business towards compliance companies in the various Emission Trading Schemes (downstream).
Your role:
You are part of the Global Carbon team, responsible for managing the portfolio. You accurately model the portfolio of carbon contracts and the exposure to market prices. You design and implement hedging strategies for the portfolio and actively look for commercial opportunities to optimize the commercial value for the company. You shall actively assist the upstream and downstream unit in pricing contracts and structuring deals. You manage a small international midstream team, consisting of analysts, deal executioners and traders. You report directly to the Head of Global Carbon and are actively involved in the overall strategy and business of the global carbon team.
Your profile:
- You have very strong analytical skills and a strong quantitative academic background (e.g. mathematics, physics or econometrics)
- You have strong IT and programming skills, preferably with VBA, VB.net or SQL;
- You have a profound understanding of the global carbon market, its products and derivatives and a strong commercial drive to be active is this environment;
- You have experience in managing a small team of professionals;
- You are a team player, closely cooperating with your colleagues of upstream and downstream, of middle office and supporting units;
- You are fluent in English; and a strong command of another European language.
